You might say power washing is in his blood. Michael Hinderliter held his first pressure washing wand at the tender age of 12. That’s when he began working summers and weekends for his father, Robert Hinderliter, president of PowerWash.com. Michael started off repairing and building pressure washers. By the time he was a senior in high school Michael had started his own power washing business, Steamaway® Mobile Power Wash, and was putting away money toward college.
Pressure washing has been good to Michael thus far. Steamaway’s revenues paid his school tuition and living expenses, his first home and vehicles. A recognized leader in the industry, Michael is a well-respected power wash instructor and has served as the President for a non-profit trade association, Power Washers of North America (PWNA).
Truck & Fleet Washing Specialist
Steamaway® Fleet Washing Specialists have been providing fleet owners exceptional service since 1985. We realized early the need for a reliable service that would show up as agreed and constantly provide a quality wash, time and time again.
In April of 1993, we were the first in the Dallas and Fort Worth area to start offering environmentally compliant power washing services as the new water run off restrictions were beginning to be enforced upon our customers. We developed and implemented a compliant cleaning process that has successfully allow our customers to continue receiving on site power washing services for many years.
Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning
In 1995, Steamaway® began offering kitchen exhaust cleaning service for commercial cooking establishments. As the customer base grew a separate company wash created Hood Specialists, Inc. in 2004. Hood Specialists later joined forces with a national kitchen exhaust cleaning company Facilitec and in 2006 became Facilitec Southwest.
Exterior Building Cleaning and Warehouse Cleaning
Steamaway® also takes on the big projects to clean interior factories as plants as well as exterior building exteriors. Interior plant / factory cleaning along with exterior building cleaning always presents unique challenges with every job that we welcome and look forward to resolving. With several years of experience there aren’t many jobs we can’t get clean.
About the Owner
Steamaway® occasionally takes on projects to clean factories, plants and building exteriors. According to Michael, one of their largest and most challenging projects was cleaning the exterior of a seven-story building. Although he enjoyed the challenge, Michael says he will probably shy away from bidding high-rise cleaning in the future and leave the work to those who specialize in it.
Michael’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington has been a tremendous asset to Steamaway Mobile Power Wash®. His studies also included a number of business courses. According to Michael, “the biggest mistake I see in the industry is when new companies are started by people who don’t seek management training. Knowing how to manage time, money, and employees is crucial to business success.” Not surprisingly, Michael’s role as an instructor in the Power Wash University Mobile Power Washing School includes training in bookkeeping and business management. He also teaches fleet washing techniques and marketing. Showing contractors how to obtain new accounts is one of his specialties.
Steamaway Mobile Power Wash led the charge into the environmental power washing arena in the early 1990s. Michael was the first contract cleaner in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex to get certified for Correct Environmental Washing Procedures. He was also the first mobile washer to obtain a Sanitary Sewer Discharge Permit. Although the industry has advanced on environmental issues, Michael says that demand for environmental power washing has declined in recent years. All the same, Steamaway is equipped to perform zero discharge power washing upon request.
